Surprised ourselves by investigating the new leisure centre/swimming pool in Worthing yesterday. It wasn’t as daunting as I expected, although the changing rooms were unisex and they were strict about outdoor footwear. The pool was OK but it has adjustable floor so no deep end and shallow end. They had it set quite shallow so we never got out of our depth. There were three lanes for distance swimmers but they were quite narrow. Although the schools had not broken up there were plenty of children and it was very noisy. I’d like to go when it is quieter but those times seem to be early morning and teatimes. On Sundays there are no buses and the car parking looks very expensive. The water was lovely and warm and we had a snack at the cafe afterwards. It needs thought. As usual there was no-one in the sea!
