Breaking the rules

Book review – of a kind. I am in the middle of a story with eight main characters stuck in what could be a haunted house and the writer keeps switching from person to person. ‘She’ is thinking about doing something and when she says so ‘he’ wonders if he should join her and ‘she’ gets lost upstairs so ‘they’ go to find her while the narrator gives some background on each of them in turn. I like the concept but I am itching to rewrite it from one or, at the most, two points of view. Dare I, just as an exercise?
