A short break at Newbiggin on Sea in Northumberland proved to be very entertaining, with a fantastic bay, a great B and B and a birthday party to trump the experience. Although we took two days to drive there, with a break in Nuneaton to visit family, the trip was worthwhile. We found a very good Italian restaurant in Newbiggin and the museum had a folk duo playing on the Saturday morning so we stayed for coffee and a scone.
Then, in the afternoon we went to Cresswell and had a super party with lots of relatives and a delicious ice cream. What a lovely coastline.
We came back through the Tyne tunnel as there were roadworks all round Newcastle. At least the roads are getting improved, even if there are still problems with plans for HS2.
